We had dieted before, only to regain it and then some.
We made a decision to change our lifestyle.
We finally made the decision to try a low carb way of eating. We purchased a few books and decided to begin the Atkins program. We felt terrible the first few days, but within 4 or 5 days our energy levels increased rapidly. We lost most of the weight without excercising. Not the proper way to do it, but when you cut sugars and reduce carbs, losing weight becomes a matter of physiology.
After getting to our goal weight/BMI, we adjusted to a moderate carb plan. We have maintained the weightloss for several years.
If you excercise, many people can just eat sensibly and never regain. Right now, I'm somewhere in between moderate carb and eating sensibly.
One thing to remember is that being at your ideal weight does not mean that you are healthy. Losing weight, however, will almost always improve your overall health.
I cannot see GL as being overweight in any way! And his wife was overweight maybe 20 pounds or so, but she looked great, even when she was pregnant.
I guess that's what happens when people leave God's country and seek out the grass on the other side......LOL!

I've gone and done it now! I'm on Facebook!!!
First let me start out by saying "I WAS BORN OVERWEIGHT". I have been large my entire life. I don't think there is a huge problem with discrimination as much as there is just a huge problem with ignorance. For instance alot of people just think you can start some diet plan and instantly loose wight. I have even been told that being overweight is a sin.
I remember when I was considering getting a UPC license, I went to talk to the District Sup. about it and all he could talk about was my weight and what I was planning on doing to loose weight. Never once did he actualy talk to me about what I needed to do to apply for a license.
No matter what your looks do matter. It's not just big people who get judged on how they look, Poor, Ugly, and Scary people all get judged on their looks aswell. We live in a judgemental society. Sometimes that includes the church.

Awww, we just carried our weight well.
