Re: The UPCI Ordains Women Pastors?

"...whosoever will DIRECT HIS CONVERSATION ARIGHT..."

A preacher does not necessarily hold an office in the Ministry;
even as one who prophesies does not necessarily hold an office
as a prophet in the Ministry.

Most of the definitions of preacher / Minister, etc., have been
adopted from denoms that do not have the fullness of the Holy
Spirit. No one can understand scripture without it . . . it's hard
enough to attain knowledge WITH the Holy Spirit (our natural
wisdom gets in the way).

"...I will show the salvation of God."

We know that wives are called to be submitted to their husbands. A woman with a call on her life who had an unbelieving husband who refused to release her to follow her call would be in violation of this Christian admonition if she rebelled and "preached" anyways. Thus, she'd be disqualified from preaching. However, if her unbelieving husband humored her and allowed her to preach and follow her leading, she'd not be in violation of any submission requirement.

Also we read,
1 Peter 3:7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
If the marital relationship between husband and wife is strained or isn't set within God's order, the couple's prayers can be hindered. I'd imagine that if a wife's desire to minister brought strife to the home due to her unbelieving husband's opposition to her faith, her prayers might be hindered.

So, in the end, the way I see it, if a woman's husband (believing or unbelieving) encourages her calling and she is submitted to the elders of the church she is well within the boundaries of biblical authority.

I have no issues with a woman preaching, prophesying, or even being in leadership.... as long as she is under the authority of a male elder in some manner.

One thing about it...I told a woman today if she does not fulfil the role of a wife to her husband and mother to her children there is no use in even thinking about teaching a SS class! God has a perfect plan and I am sure we all think we are right however if the home is not in order...that tells a lot...

Re: The UPCI Ordains Women Pastors?

I was telling our group of women about when we were younger...how we lived in a house that did not have water...had to wash clothes in a little river with some of the church sisters...however the clothes were always washed and pressed....I cringe the way some preachers look...it is a bad reflection on the wife for the husband not to have his clothes looking nice. (well that is my opinion) We raised 11 children...Many times Brother Alvear had to go to the headquarters church and he would send me to a village church to make sure all was well...life was very difficult and hard...I always took the smallest ones with me and they behaved!

We did not always have "things" but I always raised chickens, rabbits and this or that to help out and often raised a small garden...that helped Brother Alvear have more time to fulfil his duties.
And yes...I often "preached" .... the people listened and there are many fruits today all over this vast country of Brazil.
And no I have never been ordained....
Of course my idea of the first church is very different from most people....

Re: The UPCI Ordains Women Pastors?

Yes, I believe in women in ministry however it is not a free for all...there must be accountability...I came under the leadership of my pastor and really never did do anything of any size without talking to him first...then later married and have always worked under Brother Alvear....

I was asked to teach a class on this subject and a pastor ( a friend) that really does not believe in women in leadership asked could he sit in and listen I said I have no problem with you listening.... After the classes were over he said, Sister Alvear that is the best lesson I have ever heard from a person that believes in women in the ministry.

If a woman cannot respect male leadership she would not ever respect God...

Well...my opinion again....lol...

That doesn't make sense.

So, her calling is restricted by her husband?

Or does he have to be called as well as she?

Please give some Bible basis for your teaching?
