Re: Are all Catholics lost?

dont get me wrong, i wouldn't go around saying 'don't worry about all that Jesus stuff' or anything...the point is that God does not use your yardstick, and it is presumptuous to pretend to God's place. If you have some Scripture that you feel is mandatory then by all means follow it, and be sure in your own mind, but recognize that you are going to be measured against other tenets of your stated belief, and it doesn't matter if what you believe is strictly true or not, if you are a hypocrite, and we have many, many indications that if your heart is right--which might closely follow our euphemism of 'heart in the right place' for all anyone knows--your doctrine is secondary.

There is no other Name under heaven by which you might be saved might mean Christ claims you, when we envision only us claiming Christ, although both have a place. It might also be a warning against other spirits, which would produce different fruit, not unto repentance, hence you will know them by their fruit.

Re: Are all Catholics lost?

as to your excellent question about Paul's endorsement of those he called "saved," i would suggest that they had amply demonstrated that they did not care what the priests of the day thought of them, Mr Blume, as they were committed to pleasing God. Every last one of them would become martyrs, would they not?

And even Paul demonstrated his desire to please other men in going to Jerusalem without the Spirit to pursue the Nazarite vow. It is you who must live with your taste buds, not anyone else.

Re: Are all Catholics lost?

Catholics are far more Christo-centric than most "Jesus only" people. It is no one's position to judge whether believers in Catholicism is going to hell.

Besides, Catholicism is a broad brush. Are you referring to Western or Eastern Rite Catholicism? Roman? Greek? Armenian? Russian? Asian? Ethiopian? Ukrainian? Which branch of Catholicism are you trying to condemn particularly?

Re: Are all Catholics lost?

i understand why you say this, as you likely feel the need to defend your doctrine, but i think you must address the extent to which that pov is actually self serving, and recognize how you have become biased in a way that you were not when you first started seeking Christ. When Christ stated that the path was narrow, it would follow that men would seek to define that path corporately, and then, having convinced themselves that they had defined it correctly in Scripture, begin defending that corporate definition. Putting themselves at odds with others who are, after all, just seeking their own salvation in Christ. This goes directly against many Scriptures, and is a sin imo.

Funny, they've always seemed more Mary-centric, to me. Care to give an example?

The individual believers? You're absolutely correct. Though that shouldn't (and won't) deter us from telling them about Acts 2:38 salvation. The belief system of the Catholic Church? That, I will wholeheartedly condemn.

Love is telling someone the truth out of genuine concern for their well being.
