It's just when you pray for something and it happens consistently you know you have that gift. I saw instances of miracles in healing bone cancer, a lump vanished from a body instantly when I prayed, instant healing of severe back pain that left a man bedridden when we prayed, so not sure I have the gift though.
word of knowledge came few times. I prayed for a man and as I prayed it came to me a coworker was mocking him for being a Christian and God would step in. he let me know that was exactly the situation.
gift of prophecy definitely works with me. have given several prophecies. one prophecy was exactly about the scripture the pastor was going to preach and exactly the thought of his sermon before he gave it.
Basically, something let's you know-that-you-know God wants to use you at a specific moment.
