We had three brand new Hispanic folks in church last night. They spoke almost no English, but the Holy Ghost is a universal language, I guess.

Before the singing was over they were all three in the altars, weeping and crying out to God.

I don't know if they were "documented" or not.

I was just glad they were there...

We finally won and established a Hispanic lady a while back. I am hoping this will be the beginning of a revival among these folks in our city.

I need to start learning Spanish. I took a couple of semesters in college.

Praise God, Coonskinner.

That's why I want to learn the language. To be able to communicate in general, but especially in the church. I am waiting to see that revival of the Hispanic folks in our area. My husband is spaniard so they naturally pull toward him at church. He does not speak the language either, but he can understand it as he grew up in spanish speaking culture. His mom speaks fluent Castillan Spanish, but they wanted the kids to grow up speaking English so he was never really taught the language.

It is NOT plenty open to Latinos. You have your facts wrong.
CP - right after Congress came out with their big hoopla presser and McCain, Kennedy and others talked about the deal they came up with . . .

It took less than 24 hours before pro-ILLEGAL immigrant groups in the PHX metro were on the news voicing their "concern" and anger over the conditions attached to the new deal - specifically:

Requiring the head of household to leave the US to file the paperwork;
(Would harm the income of the family; cause family separation, etc.)

Payment of taxes owed; and
(Too poor to pay entire amount; most don't remember or have records of how much was received by them as most are paid under the table)

The $5,000 "penalty"
(Too poor to be able to come up with that much money; most spent everything just to get here)

In the same time frame, Reid and Pelosi came out with their own "concerns" over how to enforce the conditions.

And yes, I believe there are more ILLEGALs who don't pay taxes, than ones who do. Perhaps this year, in light of the new amnesty deal, more are beginning to pay taxes . . . but there are too many reports out there that agree that the majority of ILLEGALs are not paying taxes.

I'll probably get blasted for this . . . but oh well.

The one peso question is . . . Why? Why in the world would we WANT to annex Mexico? It's a mostly poor, 3rd world type of country.

With the exception of a possible oil find off the coast a little over a year ago, there's nothing really there but dirt.

Stop over-reacting. Good grief, "Pastor"! I mean I'm not surprised . . . this is a typical response from someone who's ideal solution would be to do away with borders and immigration laws and just allow anyone and everyone to come here without any limits or constraints.

My daughter read this tonight on the internet tonight and I thought of this thread:

We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

Ahhh...the shrill shrill voice of hysterical reasoning. I can see now why PP and CR are not convinced. I don't see the racism, even if this person's facts are wrong.

Second, I'd like to see facts, proof, that it's easier for Filipinos to get here legally than for latinos...if that were the case then I'd have to say the number of illegal immigrants from Latino countries is grossly understated. The percentage of Latinos in this nation compared to Filipinos is considerably higher.

In my city the majority of people are hispanic, then white, then black, then asian (includes Filipino).

That is fact.

It is easier for a middle easterner or european to get into this country than it is for a latino....that is why most of the undocumented workers are latinos
The US only allows a certain number of immigrants from ANY nation

i'm done arguing immigration...but it is fact that people from a latin country have less of a chance to be given a visa to come than someone from another country. The proof? Go look up the amount of visas given to different countries...or taling to an immigration attorney

I don't consider PP a racist..he and I are "cool"

Bro. Coonskinner,

Hadn't been following this thread but started browsing it and just saw

your post. The past few years we have seen hunger in the hearts of the

Spanish people in our community. We had for many years had some to

visit but due to a lack of being able to communicate with them, it had not

continued. But I believe God is moving on the Spanish speaking people in

our communities as never before. Our pastor is learning Spanish and is able

to communicate somewhat. But what happened about five years ago, a

Spanish brother who had the Holy Ghost but was trinitarian came and

he wrestled with baptism and oneness of God for awhile and then decided

that was what the Bible taught. He and his wife became so faithful and are

now the Spanish pastor, having a service just for the Spanish speaking and

many have received the Holy Ghost. Most are former catholic but are very

disciplined and make wonderful Pentecostals. The Spanish pastor is now

licensed and is a tremendous blessing to the church. God loves these dear

people just as much as He loves us. He made them too! We might as well

prepare for they are coming! They are looking our way!!!

Blessings,

Falla39

I might add that these Spanish brothers and sisters come to all of our

services but have a service on Thurs. night just for them to bring their

friends and the service is in Spanish. They are baptizing new ones all

the time. Then they bring them into our regular services also. We have

the system where they put the plugs in their ears and either the Spanish

pastor, his wife or another faithful Spanish brother interpetes for them.
