Re: It's Your Fault People Are Homosexual
At the end of the day, science might prove that our genetic makeup is influenced by epigenetics, making us much like "play dough", shaped by the experiences (traumas and pleasures) and biology of our ancestors that leave various impressions in our DNA. Thus our very nature is indeed affected by the deeds of our ancestors, going all the way back to Adam.
We're not born with a clean slate. We do bear a sinful nature. And this can explain why each of us have different "struggles" with specific proclivities of the flesh.

How do you explain subsequent generations of mice responding to stimuli they've never experienced in a manner consistent with their parents, grandparents, etc.?

Have you read Dias' and Ressler's actual paper?

Yep, you do not understand epigenetics.

Explain it to me oh great one. I've been reading articles and various works on it for over two and a half years.
But my point isn't epigenetics. You guys are missing my point entirely. As always, it's flying WAAAAAYYYYY above your heads.

"Oh great one"?
You've been reading articles for over two and a half years?
It took me less than five minutes to determine you do not understand epigenetics.
But anyway:
Have you read Dias' and Ressler's actual paper?

I've not read the entire paper, only portions that were mentioned by other sources.
I'm the only one here who's posted articles on epigenetics in support of what I'm trying to propose. LOL

Re: It's Your Fault People Are Homosexual
I've tried to dumb the idea down for discussion. I didn't want to get into the finer details on DNA and genetic tagging, etc. I'm not a geneticist and my point was just based on basic implications relating to this information.
However, the idea is that various stimuli can affect the body biochemically. These biochemical affects can actually affect the genetics of offspring, but not by altering the genes themselves or creating new genes, but by producing what are called "tags" in the genetic coding of the offspring. These "tags", given the right conditions, can actually affect how various genes work, thereby affecting aspects and behavior of the offspring.
For example, the researchers believe that by shocking rats to the scent of cherry blossoms, they essentially traumatized these rats enough to illicit biochemical changes in the brain similar to what might be called PTSD. Every time the rats smelled cherry blossoms, they had their episodes and show anxiety. Of course, they're expecting to be shocked. Now, when it came to their pups, the pups responded with anxiety to the scent of cherry blossoms also. And they claim their data shows that they were even more sensitive to the scent than their parents. They believe that this is an biological feature that passes down information from parent to pub to increase chances for survival.

So, you believe Dias and Ressler proved something but haven't read their actual findings, just "articles" that talk about it?
Get back to me when you've read the paper.

I don't remember ever seeing a link to the actual paper. Do you have one?

But again, my main point was WAAAYYYY over your head and we're talking about something other than the point.
