No one is more desperate for their view to be true than those who take the most extreme views, whatever label they go by, ultra con pentecostal, fundamentalist baptist, the reformed mormon, or Jehovah witness, or even Islamists. All these have all their eggs in one basket, all their chips on the table, betting, hoping, praying that what they believe is correct, afterall they force their wives and kids to adhere to it, and allow it to fragment other family relationships.Their whole life and identity are tied up in their version of religion.
See it all goes under different names and slightly different expressions, but its the same iron fisted enforcement on threat of hell/God's wrath, the same idea of we have "the truth", we are "the ones truly saved". The spirit is the same, the religious garb on the outside is different, whether it be a dress and no make up, mormon underwear, a hijab, or knocking doors every saturday morning. All of these adherents, while claiming to serve God, find their ultimate identification with their religion, and not in Christ.
