Revelation 11:1-18 is quoting Jeremiah. It is pointed to Jereusalem the same way it was meant for Jereusalem during the time of the prophet. That is what the writer is trying to get across to his Diaspora Judean readers. Obviously not meant for every moment in history. Since the writing of the Revelation, we do have instances of slavery being conducted, and therefore why consider the verse to have any special meaning now? It would make the book meaningless especially to the ones it was originally meant to reach.

Good points.
I was just pointing out the context in which I heard a preacher speak of slavery making a comeback in the United States.
