Dallas and even Longview have nothing to fear from a hurricane. Up here in north east Texas the only concern is tornadoes, but most everyone has a tornado shelter.
Last St Patrick's day we had a supercell form right over the house, pond out front was literally whitewater going in a counterclockwise circle. Took part of the roof off my barn, had 2x4s 8-10 ft long embedded across the pasture four feet deep. Thing walked right down the county road headed north, then turned east and went into town.
Here's a video someone from in town took as it formed. They are looking west-southwest. The left half of the shelf cloud in the video was directly over my house.
