Yeah, Trump is supplying the cops with military grade equipment, he is for the cops and the military. Most repubs are.

But to say he is prepping us.... BHO already did that.
I think we should demilitarize the police. Any more, it's like the police departments have been coopted to be military grade enforcers of a police state.

Re: Is Trump Prepping Us For A Class War?

JD - my two cents worth.
This began under BHO.
I did not vote for him, but I thought he had a rare opportunity to bring US together.
All he had to say was that he was equally black and white, then approach problems from that standpoint and we could have moved further along to a post-racial society.
However, he did not.
He doubled down on the idea that the US was inherently racist and used it to divide us (which followed his basic political philosophy).
Look at one example: Freddie Gray, Baltimore.
The idea that the Baltimore PD was racist is laughable.
The mayor was black, the police chief was black, the city attorney was black, the majority of the PD was black.
How were they racist?
Stupid.
But many ignorant people believed it.
Or Eric Garner - a black female police supervisor was there directing the officers while they were attempting to make the arrest.
But it was somehow racist.
Right.
Now, let me say this.
We as a country are heading into some dangerous territory.
There is a growing disparity between the rich and poor with a smaller middle class.
Why?
Because of liberal policies.
Increase the minimum wage.
This drives out young people who are trying to gain skills and learn.
No more trade training in schools.
Now we have a shortage of people trained for trades.
Increase illegal immigration
Drives down wages overall, but mostly in the sectors that would employee beginning workers.
And I could go on!
But I have to get to work.

Both sides are to blame, and good men on both sides see police militarization as a part of the problem:

Bernie Sanders (Liberal, Senator & Presidential Candidate):
"It is an outrage that in these early years of the 21st century we are seeing intolerable acts of violence being perpetrated by police and racist acts of terrorism by white supremacists.
A growing number of communities do not trust the police. Law enforcement officers have become disconnected from the communities they are sworn to protect. Violence and brutality of any kind, particularly at the hands of the police meant to protect and serve our communities, is unacceptable and must not be tolerated. We need a societal transformation to make it clear that black lives matter and racism will not be accepted in a civilized country.
We must demilitarize our police forces so they don’t look and act like invading armies."
==============================
Glenn Reynolds (Columnist, Liberal):
"Soldiers and police are supposed to be different. Police look inward. They're supposed to protect their fellow citizens from criminals, and to maintain order with a minimum of force.
It's the difference between Audie Murphy and Andy Griffith. But nowadays, police are looking, and acting, more like soldiers than cops, with bad consequences. And those who suffer the consequences are usually innocent civilians."
==============================
Walter Olson (Conservative, CATO Institute):
"Why armored vehicles in a Midwestern inner suburb? Why would cops wear camouflage gear against a terrain patterned by convenience stores and beauty parlors? Why are the authorities in Ferguson, Mo. so given to quasi-martial crowd control methods (such as bans on walking on the street) and, per the reporting of Riverfront Times, the firing of tear gas at people in their own yards? (“‘This my property!’ he shouted, prompting police to fire a tear gas canister directly at his face.”) Why would someone identifying himself as an 82nd Airborne Army veteran, observing the Ferguson police scene, comment that “We rolled lighter than that in an actual warzone”?"
==============================
Rand Paul (Conservative, Kentucky Senator):
"Washington has incentivized the militarization of local police precincts by using federal dollars to help municipal governments build what are essentially small armies—where police departments compete to acquire military gear that goes far beyond what most of Americans think of as law enforcement.
When you couple this militarization of law enforcement with an erosion of civil liberties and due process that allows the police to become judge and jury—national security letters, no-knock searches, broad general warrants, pre-conviction forfeiture—we begin to have a very serious problem on our hands.
Given these developments, it is almost impossible for many Americans not to feel like their government is targeting them. Given the racial disparities in our criminal justice system, it is impossible for African-Americans not to feel like their government is particularly targeting them."

I see the police loading and carrying AR-15's every day, but that's because of where I work.

Out on the street, we don't see it a lot. But I've noticed police "cars" giving way to police "SUVs". They are loaded with some pretty heavy gear in the back. So, it's there, even if you don't see it.

It's also the principle.

Cops aren't military. But they are being equipped and trained to act like a domestic military peace keeping force. This makes many, especially minorities and civil rights protestors VERY nervous.

Re: Is Trump Prepping Us For A Class War?

The military-gear supplies for civilian police departments has been going on for several years now. I've been watching it...and have been concerned.

BO talked about race constantly. He drew lines between us Americans. It's up to us to always resist that garbage.

If you do some honest research back into the 40s and 50s, you will see a plot to plunge black people into poverty. And if you look back at the last 8 years, you will also see a plot to plunge white people into poverty. I'm not going to go into the details of it here, but if you study it a bit, you will see it.

A politiian is a politician is a politician. They are all a bunch of criminals, or at the very least, doing everything possible to further their agendas regardless of the desire of we the people. I'm thankful Trump isn't a politician, although he has issues, too.

I suggest, respectfully, Jermyn, that you, me, we, all of us stop playing into this race thing and start coming together. Divisions will get us no where. Remember, "Divide and Conquer".... that is a very real tool that is used when ....well....I'm not going to say. But we need to resist.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of military Humvees, camo and assault rifles used by police. But when responding to protests these days, they'd be killed if they were still as depicted in the photo on the left.

Before you point out Trump's rhetoric, take a look at the rhetoric from the other side. The rhetoric from blm, the media, and other liberals.

Regarding association with racists - that's an outright media-generated lie.
