Re: Job rant
Alright. So, I applied to be part of the ERT. But there was a manager in the office who needs officers for his post at a mall that has a bad rep. He interviewed me for a position and offered employment. ERT is temp. But that could last anywhere from a month to a year. So I accepted the post at the mall... and then I was asked if I am bilingual. I stated that I am not. He said that I look bilingual. Nah, bro.
Anyway... orientation is on Wednesday for a position on the ERT.

Re: Job rant
Glad you got the job Houston, praying it works out, or the Lord opens a better and safer position for you!

Hello houston:
Just so you know, you don't need to be terminated to collect unemployment benefits. If you are laid off you are eligible for unemployment. In some cases if you are a full time employee whose hours have been significantly (for example, you are changed from full time to part time status) you may be eligible for benefits. At any rate, if you had been a full time employee for five years and then you don't work for two weeks, if you haven't been fired you have been laid off. You are not an employee of the company that contracted for your services, you are an employee of the security company that you are working for (just as the manager, admin, and others are).
However, just getting another job is the best thing (but if it were to take some time to find a position, I just want you to know that you should be eligible to receive those benefits, as someone said, it will help by groceries but remember you will need to pay taxes on unemployment and they are not withheld from the check).
All of that said I'm not sure if I'm understanding you and I'm curious. Were you hired by the mall only to be terminated because they mistakenly thought you were bilingual? And you had decided against the ERT job because of the uncertainty of steady income but since the mall let you go before you started, you decided to take the ERT job and orientation will be Wednesday?

I wasn't offered a post at a mall because the manager assumed I am bilingual. I wasn't term'd. The office is open today to conduct ERT interviews but this manager has slots to fill at his account so he came in to try to have them filled.
When I told him that I am not bilingual he stated that the client requires the new hires to speak espanish.
So I skipped the ERT interview and went straight to the paperwork for the ERT position.
This all took place in one office... one company. I'm sorry. I ramble,

They say that money doesn't make a man happy, but I beg to differ.
