Stephen Paddock, was identified by Las Vegas authorities as the..sniper who killed at least 58 people and injured over 500 others as he opened fire on a country music concert from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort Casino...
His Viera neighbors said they hardly saw him and expressed shock at the news that he could be involved in the massacre... They talked about a man who would occasionally share with them his love of gambling, including how he once won $20,000 playing a game on his cellphone...
“He seemed normal, other than that he lived by gambling. He was very open about that," Sharon Judy said..."First time we ever met him, he handed us the key to the house and said, 'Hey, would keep..an eye on the house, we’re only going to be here every now and then.'"
The Judys confirmed a photo of the Vegas shooter to be the Stephen Paddock that lived next door to them. They said he didn't seem to interact with anyone else in the neighborhood besides them. Paddock also does not appear to have any readily available record of a social media presence...
Paddock..owned a home in..Heritage Isle, a 55-plus community off Wickham Road, from 2013-2015. Judy said he was so trusting that he handed her and husband the key to the home and said for them to 'borrow anything you need.'..
The 1,773-square foot stucco residence, with its brick-lined driveway,..well-manicured lawn and neatly-trimmed palms, was originally built in 2013. The..area is dotted..with retirement homes and 18-hole golf courses. The home was valued at $218,000, according to records.
Neighbors who knew Paddock said he would stay at the residence – located in the 3700 block of Sansome Circle - ..infrequently and used the property more as an investment home...
Don and Sharon Judy, who have lived at the residence next door to Paddock's house since 2013, said he..and his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, only came to the home about five times in the two years he owned it...
The home's new buyer said he had no personal interaction with Paddock...
"It was all done through his Realtor and my Realtor. House was listed, we liked it and we made an offer," said Mick Anderson, who purchased the Viera home from Paddock in 2015..."I had no direct interaction with him. The only thing I can tell you is that documents were regularly late."
The house was sparse, the Judys..said... A recliner, some chairs, a bed in each bedroom and laptops..were all they saw when inside the house. Paddock told them that he and his girlfriend would stay up all night gambling...
