Trump's base is not the "conservatives", it was a nationalist and populist movement who are quickly discovering that "conservatism" is a sham. Conservatism, Inc. gives us nationalist rhetoric because they want our votes, but once in office its all about more globalism, bank bonuses, and the status quo as usual. Trump's base is teetering on the edge of abandoning him altogether. The MAGApedes can't see it yet but, unless he suddenly becomes something that he has clearly not been so far, they will soon.
People have seen the TEA Party coopted, the Ron Paul movement coopted, the Libertarian Paleoconservative movement (Buchananism) coopted, now we've been watching Trumpism get coopted into stupid MAGAmania (no different than Obamamania or Bushmania).
The disappointment will lead to the rise of a hard nationalist movement that will likely put an end to the whole "two party, liberal vs conservative" circus act once and for all.
Sadly, all by design. And no that's not tinfoil, that's what the powers that be have been saying for about 100 years now, even longer.

I believe that the GOP will gain seats in both houses and Trump will win by a landslide in 2020. But I agree that "conservatism" will be replaced by hard nationalism.
