Church only gets complicated when people say there are things in the bible that are not there... I could handle one where that doesn't happen.

My church, Christ Church Nashville, typically is considered non denominational although one time my pastor said from the pulpit that he actually prefers inter-denominational.

The pastor refers to the church as a "Pentecostal" church also.

Wow! So miracles do still happen.

Anytime you get depressed about being in Houston just remind yourself it could be Beaumont or Port Arthur (or Vidor).

I knew someone was gonna say that! I live here:

I can ride my bike to dinner or to the grocery store and I work from home so I can watch the squirrels and birds all day long.

You might not like my response & that's why I've hesitated.

I don't believe speaking in tongues has anything to do with salvation and I don't think that whether or not this man spoke in tongues before he passed is indicative at all of whether or not he was saved or if he had genuinely repented.
How can someone who does not believe speaking in tongues has anything to do with salvation say they teach the Acts 2: 38 doctrine?

I have heard people say things that are not in the Bible all the time. Some things are very minor and some things are major. Are you being nitpicky or are you talking about major salvational issues? Because it's rare to find a preacher that sticks to the scriptures completely and doesn't add or take away a little here and there especially if they are relating something by memory instead of turning to and reading the passage.

Then there are different interpretations. There is an active thread on the GNC right now "Jesus is God?". Many different views on that one statement.

So what are the complicated things people say that keep you out of church?

Hmmmm.... that sounds interesting. I once asked if people have started worshiping the Name of Jesus instead of God -- not at GNC, though.
