Is this too much compromise?
I was internet searching, and found this on a website of a former UPC minister (I don't think he's still part of that organization anyway..) I won't say any names, but he use to speak regularly at BOTT. But I was reading on his website in the tab that said "about us", and was shocked to find this in the section that said "What we Believe". Here it is:
"The Holy Bible
The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the Word of God. It is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, it is inspired, infallible, and inerrant.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ was 100% God and 100% man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.
Salvation
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts.
The Holy Spirit
Given at Pentecost, it is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth. The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel.
The Church
The church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of Jesus' Great Commission. The church is made up of many members, diverse in their gifts and calling of the Holy Spirit.
The Second Coming
Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scriptures."
What seperates this from a non denominational church, besides that he didn't also include the Creed's, or the sinners prayer? Do y'all see this as serious compromise? Because I do, I want to get everyone's opinion on this.

They are making sure they won't raise any red flags when they extend the right hand of fellowship to the Baptists and charismatics.

That's exactly what I seen too. I suppose this is for evangelistic reasons, but I don't know what kind of "growth" you are truly going to get from this. All so called growth isn't good growth though.

What about Jesus do you find troubling for a oneness Pentecostal to say? Isn't everything there in the bible?
Isn't everything on the salvation section in the bible as well?
What is incorrect in the stated doctrine on the Holy Spirit?

None of that is Oneness language, that's all trinitarian language he's using. But the main thing is the Salvation area. Yes, it is true it comes by grace through faith, but your not saved unless you are born of water and the Spirit! Outside of that, your faith does you nothing towards salvation. You can't be saved by the teachings of the epistles, and most your so called Christian world doesn't understand that. So by him saying this, he's bringing confusion to people if they don't know better.

There is nothing Biblically incorrect about what is said on the website. Rather, there are things NOT said on the website, that nevertheless ARE biblically correct, and without THOSE things a visitor to the website would never think that THOSE things are believed by the church. If THOSE things are in fact believed by the church, then it amounts to a bait-and-switch. If those things are NOT believed by the church, then the church is in doctrinal error.
There is a trend these days for churches to post as little as possible about what they believe and teach on their websites. They try to appear as wide-ranging as possible, as generic as possible, in order to attract the most people and provide least possible amounts of reasons for other churches to not fellowship them. It's a marketing ploy, and it's dishonest, in my opinion.
A church that believes Jesus is the Father and the Holy Ghost should boldly proclaim it. A church that believes one must be baptised in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost, as part of regeneration, should boldly proclaim it. Failure to do so means either they don't believe it, or they are trying to fly under the radar. Either way, it's just plain wrong.

Re: Is this too much compromise?
I’ve seen statements similar to that on websites belonging to Apostoic and Pentecostal churches. It’s ambiguous for a reason. Usually to sound similar to the generic and non denominational churches. Then you arrive and they are Oneness and Acts 2:38 to the core. At least whe given the best case scenario.

RJ preaches Acts 2:38. I have heard him preach enough to hear his own words. He is a man full of compassion and true love-the sincerest of anyone I know.
To bad people who criticize him, don't visit his church.
