The premise of theonomy is that Biblical restraints on government are more secure than restraints derived from humanistic philosophy. Now, if you want to argue that man can devise better law than God can, by all means go ahead.

So, the argument is that man will abuse a theonomic government so we should keep our current form of governance?
Well, long live the republic.

Re: BY THIS STANDARD-Greg L. Bahnsen
You're a fool if you think men will not corrupt a theonomic government.
The Christian anarchist believes in Christian sovereignty, that Christians might be governed by Christ alone. We should have our own voluntary communities, by laws, committees, and elders. None beholden to any civil government.
Now, the governments of this world refuse to grant such sovereignty. So, we refuse as much participation in their system as possible, but obey certain ordinances that do not hinder us just to keep peace.
Christian anarchists envision sovereign Christian communities. Much like this one, but sovereign. Until that is possible, this is the closest the Christian anarchist vision can be realized.

In other words, a collection of independent theonomic city states.
I guess you like your eggs scrambled.

Re: BY THIS STANDARD-Greg L. Bahnsen
I've become bored with this discussion. I'm focusing my energies on finishing my book, and spending my time building my family into a theonomic power-house. Change isn't achieved by arguing on an internet backwater with prog-commie cbd salesmen who are already demographically irrelevant to begin with.

Re: BY THIS STANDARD-Greg L. Bahnsen
Christian anarchism believes in the Christian family's right to be self-governing. Christian anarchists believe in forming voluntary, self-governing, Christian communities. This is the vision from Acts. We see all civil government as internetly corrupt. Therefore, we live our lives as free from civil authority as much as possible, to live solely under Christ's authority. This is the Kingdom of God.

Theonomic? No. That's for ancient Israel. Christian anarchist bylaws would reflect manners demonstrating one's love for God, and one's neighbor as one's self. Those who do not live for God and violate community bylaws are not executed. They are disfellowshiped, shunned, excommunicated. Cut off from the community.
It isn't grounded in OT law. It's grounded in NT teaching.

Re: BY THIS STANDARD-Greg L. Bahnsen
Christian Reconstructionists just want to hijack the power of civil government, and become the very tyranny they oppose.
Christian anarchists want true freedom to be ruled by Christ alone in voluntary community right here, right now, in the midst of this fallen world. This, to us, is the Kingdom of God.
Mark 10:42-45
{42} But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, "You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. {43} Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. {44} And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. {45} For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
