Re: To Beard or Not to Beard, That is The Question
I'm noticing more and more churches becoming pragmatic about facial hair. Yes, there are a few who still preach against it, but they seem to be becoming fewer and fewer. Soon this will be a non-issue for the vast majority of churches.

THE SUIT!
Now if we were sincerely wanting to keep from being associated with worldly people or fashions WHY........do Preachers wear the very same thing?
Could it be a PRIDE ISSUE? Do they want to look like the Hollywood celebrities?
Why is suit wearing encouraged among the saints?
Yea "down the road" when they have seen the example of everyone else clean shaven and heard preaching on how it is rebellion.

So far nobody has mistaken me for an actor or a politician. I’ve had assumed many were gang bangers or motorcycle clubs/gangs by their appearance. Now it would be kind of cool to get mistaken for a CIA person lol. Usually when I’m in my suit i get asked if I was at church.

I have had a beard for 44 of the 45 years I have walked with Jesus. I dont recall anyone in that time asking me if I were a biker or a gang member!

Re: To Beard or Not to Beard, That is The Question
The whole thing about it is definitely a tradition of men. They have "the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence". But also, with traditions, you have to be careful that you don't end up "laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men".
Are some being "excluded from the clique" because they like to have a beard? Isn't that legalism?
Traditions can have good values in it, but you should always be re-examing it to see if it still applies and to make sure that it doesn't end up being taught as a commandment of the Lord, when it is not.

Re: To Beard or Not to Beard, That is The Question
I wasn't in California when the Hippies stuff, however, I have a question:
Aren't hippies/gang identified better by their clothing, jewelry, etc..? A decently modestly clean dressed beard man would like like a Hippie or a gang member?

Exactly, from church attendance, to where they place their eyes on the internet. It is all on them. We teach, preach, and baptize, what they do after that is all on the individual.
