I have to disagree.
Primarily because he handled it well, at the time.
But, he started a long slide several years back.
Unfortunately, I had a front row seat...

Who was his best friend? And what happened at BOTT?

Someone who died of cancer.

There's a whole thread on AFF about it somewhere. JA said some things during a message which upset a lot of ministers. He has not preached at BOTT since, and even was removed from preaching at some camp meetings or conferences.

I don't know all he allegedly said. I did see a video clip of one remark about another minister which wasn't nice. Allegedly he made a comment or two about Obama as well.

Ironically, I watched an old BOTT message by both LS and JA recently and when introducing both, AM stated that both would preach at BOTT every year. LS hasn't preached there since the 90s, not sure why he hasn't been back. Would be great to have both preach at BOTT next year though.

However, it started long ago.
In the video I watched, it's certainly the catalyst for the new cursing, drinking, cigar-smoking MM. He mentioned several times the death of his friend and death of another UPC minister from years ago and how he missed them.

I agree his downward slide started long ago though.

Re: Matt Maddix

I just find the whole thing terribly sad. Evidently at one time, he had a lot of potential.

It started when money became more important than the kingdom
