Much ado of nothing. Whether eight or eight hundred your churches are at no risk. People preparing for an armed attack is just ecclesiastical drama. We have one joker up north of us who locks his church doors as service is happening. He should just close the church building. Have church in a bunker.

No, this is stupid. Fires, tornados, hurricanes are far more prevalent then YOUR church being shot up.
Close your buildings, and stay safe.
What does Revelation say about the first who get thrown into the like of fire? They’re the fearful, second, the unbelieving.
Like I said, close your buildings, find a place to hide.
They are coming to get you.

Re: "Churches arm, train congregants"
Hey, I have a great idea, why not train the entire congregation in using a bo staff.

Re: "Churches arm, train congregants"
Why doesn't anyone shoot up the Unarius Academy of Science?

Perhaps with your vast amount of faith and knowledge, you can be the next speaker at general conference, jump up on the pulpit and straighten out all the pastors training safety teams, tell them to close the doors to their buildings and find a place to hide.
While you’re up there sharing your vast amount of faith and knowledge, you can go on to tell them statistics on school and church bldg fires that are so much more prevalent than shootings, and how fire drills are acceptable but not shootings.
While you’re at it, give them your vast wisdom on statistics for church and school tornadoes drills based upon how many times they’ve individually been hit by tornadoes, compared to shootings, and why ONLY tornadoes drills are acceptable based on those stats.
Explain to them levels of risk based upon value of targets and chance.
Tell them they’re all stupid and it’s much ado about nothing.
Tell them it’s stupid to want security for 40,000 of their kids at congress, it’s much ado about nothing.

Close down, run and hide. Shake like a puppy passing peach pits. Cower before the media who rings the bell and you all salivate on command. They are coming to get you, they are ready to attack your church and kill everyone. What control they have over you, they laugh while you run around in their ant farm of fear.

More stupidity, instead of sanity? No statistics, just common sense, that you are controlled by fear, and worry. This isn't even an argument concerning faith, or even religion. This is more an argument about how media plays the flute, and you all run right off a cliff. Sweet love of God, where do you people live? Do you have bars on your windows, 5 pit bulls, and laser motion detectors? Jesus isn't the final solution, we don't turn to Him, as a last resort, when our gun jams. Or we have a home invasion with Henry Lee Lucas standing over our bed with a TEC-9 pointed in our mouth. Making us unable to reach for our 9mm under the mattress. This is insanity, and an insanity brought to us by Scare O Vision Fox News, CNN, and CNBC.

What happens if a Marvin Heemeyer copy cat drives through your church platform with his bulldozer? What plans should churches make in case of a rampaging armor clad lawnmower man?

Security motivated by fear, instead of sanity is no security.
Don't go to church tomorrow, stay home, preferably in the bathtub with the mattress over you. SMH

Anyway, Niccolo Machiavelli and Edward Bernays would be proud.

Re: "Churches arm, train congregants"
Ok Ben.
All the OP pastors appointing a security team are motivated by fear, and need to lock their church bldg doors, and stay home to hide in their bathtubs on Sundays and Wednesday’s, because they are so fearful, or motivated by fear, or whatever it was you vomited out in your foolish post(s).
And although I risk my life every day w my employment, yet on Sunday I’m fearful or motivated by fear(or whatever you spewed out) because I was appointed by a pastor who is quite obviously also motivated by fear(& needs to stay home and hide in his bathtub)to organize a safety team and get them trained and in place to deal with unwanted situations.
Got it Ben.
And not only that, our district superintendent with a security team in place, also motivated by fear(or whatever you vomited out).
Thank you Ben, for continuing to share your extensive knowledge, wisdom, and faith so that you can continue your road of enlightening so many Christian leaders to realize the err of their way.
Ladies conference, no security.
40,000 OP kids at a conference, no security.
Why...because that’s only for the faithless and fearful that need to hid me in their bathtubs.Got it Ben.
Again, I’m looking forward to someday hearing about you climbing up on the pulpit at general conference, so you can tell everyone they’re fearful cowards, and they should lock the church bldg doors, and hide in their bathtubs under a mattress, if they already have or are considering a safety team.
