The help that “helped” her.
Medication that she took only covers the symptoms, it doesn’t solve the problem. Shame on us that believe you can counterattack a spiritual attack by physical remedies.
I dont say this boasting, I will use examples from what I’ve heard and seen. I felt to go pray before service last week, and there was nothing unusual about going to church before service to pray but this time I felt a spirit of intercession type prayer. A couple minutes into the prayer I heard screams for help. Long story short, I rebuked a spirit of murder from a man, that had his gun and clip to kill a man that he was told touched his wife inappropriately. After we prayed, he came to service with his family, his wife told my wife this is the help we needed. If you want to continue down the road you always have, and have your traditions all you want.

Re: Depression
Has anyone had success in working with people with schizophrenia? I sometimes struggle to discern the spiritual from the mental. How do you tell whether a person is dealing which a hormonal or chemical imbalance or spiritual attack?

On this platform some are going to tell you have a wrong diet maybe too high vitamin C. The voices a person is hearing maybe the chemicals swishing in there brain.

I’m going to come from a side that it’s spiritual, I don’t believe that schizophrenia is a chemical imbalance or a hormonal imbalance. Others may give you a more logical explanation. When we first think schizophrenia we think multiple voices, these souls will hear multiple voices, they’ll see hallucinations and because the medical world doesn’t have an answer they’ll put them on meds or bad enough the soul goes to a mental ward. I relate schizophrenia with depression, anxiety and such like. So, with the understanding that’s it’s a spirit that has attack this soul, you need to get to the open door, what caused this attack? If this individual is a women I would have my wife present. Open doors can include abuse, trauma, death in the family, etc. In my understanding a lot of these doors opened as a child. I talked to one young lady and the Lord gave me knowledge of when her open door happened and it was during her childhood. I told her she never had a relationship with her Dad, and because her relationship with her father never happened that opened door that we’re devastating in her young life. She began to cry, I had no knowledge of this women, God gives us the tools to help these souls. The Elder in my life, told me that a young lady in a church was struggling and the Pastor didn’t have a clue what was going on, this young lady was deaf in one ear and my elder spoke to her in that ear and the spirit spoke, the Pastor was in disbelief. That young lady was delivered, that door opened I believe through molestation. There is no point to pray for this soul and then he or she gets delivered and he/she goes back to the same door that opened themself up for the attack. In all this God will give you knowledge, wisdom and discerning of spirits to understand what’s at play. Once the open is know, you can pray with them, they have to denounce the spirit of schizophrenia (spirit that controls the mind) and start praying against it rebuke it in Jesus name you have the authority (if you have the Holy Ghost). There may be multiple spirits come out of this person, the first one isn’t usually the desired spirit. Spirits may talk to you, I wouldn't start a conversation with them, your there for deliverance. Once the soul is delivered pray for them to receive the Holy Ghost. Disciple them, the Bible says
Matthew 12:43
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
That spirit has no rest in dry places, it will return again. When it does attack again this individual has to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Once they have the Holy Ghost they now have authority. Time permits me, if you need more explanation message me and I’ll give you my number to talk to you. This what we’re (the church) is here for. We’re saved to save others, many people in the church are struggling and they shouldn’t have to run to the world for their answer. We have the answer, we have the balm.

I am sure the Lord can give you discernment. You will be not short of wisdom to understand the situation.
Whatever it is, the Lord Jesus can heal.
I would just start praying for a miracle, and let the Spirit of God start guiding me towards the answer of what it is and the deliverance.

Why would someone need to know how long a demon has been with an individual?

His questions are legitimate. Where is any of that in the Bible? Of al the issues addressed in the epistles, nowhere are they told to cast devils out of believers. Nothing about open doors. Nothing about deliverance. Nothing about denouncing spirits.

Then Brother, you said it. There’s no scripture in the Bible that talks about doors, nothing about deliverance, and nothing about denouncing them. I know what I do, and what I’ve seen. If you do believe that, then please tells us what the Bible says to do with schizophrenia?
I don’t believe a believer can be demon possessed, oppressed I do believe that a saint can be.
