I really don’t know how many. Some are in the pews. Only one is officially pastor. One is bishop. My point is that pastors are a gift from God. As well as teachers, apostles, prophets, and teachers. Nobody claims that we only need one teacher in a church. Why only one pastor? Why not ten?

If a pastor is an elder, the NT records ordaining multiple elders in every church. Paul sent Timothy to the churches that they had established in order to ordain elders.

Acts.14

[23] And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

So, is an elder a pastor? And a pastor an elder? So why would we want only one pastor? If pastors are a wonderful gift of God (which they are) the question is “why only one pastor?”

When Paul called for the elders of Ephesus to meet him in Miletus to counsel them on what they should do, he never mentions the pastor (singular). He mentions elders plural.

Acts.20

[17] And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

Why did he never mention the pastor? I believe it is because elders and pastors were synonymous in the NT. If so, it is evident that the churches of the NT had multiple pastors.

So why would a church not benefit from multiple pastors?

Would it not lighten the load on our overloaded pastors?

Would it not be a good thing?

If we are truly apostolic, why do we not follow their example in this?
I was taught old school. I wonder why John didnt say to the “angels” of the church _____? Why did he say, “to the Angel” of the church, just one.
