HELP Boyz....
Okay, guys...I want to buy my husband a really nice fishing rod (for trout, mostly)...and I need some recommendations. I'm CLUELESS. I want something durable, something that looks nice, and something that will appeal to his engineering-i-love-gadgets personality.
So what would you recommend?

Is your husband a man that is not easily frustrated and yet would like something above average?
If so and your part of the country is ideal, I would recommend getting him a fly rod and give him a guided lesson, once he does catch a fish on a fly rod, he will be hooked and won't look back.
Orvis has nice starter sets for about $150.00, if your really on a budget you can pick up a entry level set up from Walmart for $99.00

Fresh, no fly rods.
Okay, looks sleek? Looks cool? Will impress all the other fishermen?

Can you clarify "entry level set" with specifics and maybe a brand name? Thanx
