I've never had a thief break into my home before, I still lock my doors at night. Do you? Is that fear and paranoia, or is it just being cautious?
I've never had a house or apartment catch on fire, yet I still pay for insurance. How about you? Do you have insurance on your home? Have you ever needed it? Then by your own logic, you're living in fear and paranoia by paying for something that you don't need.
Just because something hasn't happened, doesn't mean it can't happen.

Well, thank God that hasn't happened, then.

You seem to be fixated on this notion that we're living in fear. We are not. Preparedness is not fear.

Using our firearms would be the very last resort, not the first. And I'm sure you well know and understand that, you just think you're being funny trying to push my buttons. All you're doing is presenting yourself as ignorant.

Yes, we have shouting and dancing and even the odd running of the aisles here.

No, not a red herring. That's the entire point of being armed, to protect
OTHERS. It's not about saving our own lives, it's about being able to protect the lives of those around us.

I think most of the people who believe they are being prepared by being "armed" with loaded weapons in the church. thinking they will just shoot the assailants, isn't that simple. It's like public schools arming teachers to ward off would be school shooters. While everyone thinks arming the congregants with guns is a solution in theory. It might not end well in real time. the truth is (I'm not trying to be funny) you guys might end up shooting everyone but the shooter. In your confusion and panic.

You are right that it's a possibility, but you're also making an assumption that we don't train at all. Anyone who carries a firearm should train to be proficient with it.

Indeed. Every day I carry, and every day I pray that I will never need to use it.
Maybe you're confused because you don't know what shooting I was referring to. I'll post a video that breaks down the entire scenario for you. It was in White Settlement, Texas last year. Unfortunately, YT flagged the video so you have to be signed in to watch it. I'll post a second video that addresses it, as well.
