I am always very much left with the impression that it *is* about Trump.
If Donald Trump, known even before election as a brash, power-hungry, egomaniacal bully, is a symbol of our struggle against tyranny, we are in a world of hurt. It isn't to say that he has done nothing right, but when half the population feels they have been railroaded, it shouldn't come as any surprise that there is serious backlash. It's as if conservatives forgot how they felt when the Obama administration was pushing an agenda through Congress on party-line votes and executive orders.
Not to belabor the point, but it sounds very much like it *is* about Trump. That there exists those holding to the idea that this must be done and only Trump can do it is why we have analogies of Trump being "called for such a time as this," compared to Moses, etc. So while you might ultimately not feel this way, I hope you understand why some of us reading these posts think you do.

Bottom line, it does not HAVE to be Trump he "does it." Sadly, he is the only one who HAS "done it," so far.
Call him a bully if you like. Sometimes bullies stand up to worse bullies.
