There is a group that meets every Saturday morning and rides from Moss Bluff to DeQuincy. Round trip is about 40 miles and we average about 17 there and back because it is pretty flat.

When we are on slight downhills we get up to 14-15 but our average is 9-10. We are using the regular mountain bike tires and have not bothered to switch them over to the smooth road tires. We also can't go much faster since there are walkers on the same trails that would get upset if we blow by them too fast.

(especially on the curves, since the trails wind among the trees)
I use a Garmin Forerunner 201 instead of a bike computer and it is nice to be able to go back and look at the logs, including satellite images showing your exact path. We can also compare previous weeks and months to see our improvements. I've actually blocked out an hour on my work calendar each morning for my bike ride to make sure I do it.
