Back around the mid 90's ABC's Nightline news show devoted a complete show to the persecution of Christians in Communist China.

The Christians they profiled were obviously Pentecostal (in actions not dress code). They showed how for a special meeting preachers made their way to a large home in the country (looked like a farm) and then slept in a hidden room. The meeting was held out in the woods in a primitive barn type structure.

They talked about how many of the preachers had been arrested. Some got out of prison and others were never heard from again.

I remember after watching this secular newscast I sat there in tears ashamed for how much we take for granted.

It was an unbelievable program. It was as if a church organization had paid ABC millions of dollars for national air time. It was also ABC that in the midst of it's liberal secular programming chose the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir as its "Person of the Week" on the evening newscast. They proceeded to show the choir and interview members whose lives had been changed by God from drug addicts, prostitutes, etc to BT choir members. It was very powerful. The airtime was worth probably hundreds of thousands of dollars if you had wanted to get that message out in a commerical on that newscast.

The True Jesus Church has always had the "house church" concept, so when the Communist began closing down churches in China they were the least affected. They simply continued meeting as they always had. When greater freedom was granted in the 1980's the True Jesus Church was a major contributor to the evangelization going on in China.

It is true that they have some different beliefs. They believe you must be baptized in living water, so no baptistry for them. I understand they also baptize face forward in remembrance of Jesus as He fell forward in death upon the cross.

Seems like I read that somewhere. I knew you would know them since being there. I was told they have a splinter groups in Japan and some other oriental nations that are also good sized? Question did Nee's group baptize in Jesus Name I have heard they do or is it a split?

BTW, if anyone would like to invest in winning a Chinese university student to the Lord with only a $500.00 investment, please let me know. Through my New Direction China Ministries last year, we awarded ten $500 bursaries to impoverished students needing financial aid to attend university. As a result, eight students have become Christians and are being discipled on a weekly basis. I don't know of a less expensive method for reaching promising future leaders of China than this program. You get information and a picture of the student you or your church sponsors. Sponsors are encouraged to become a personal spiritual mentor to that student through email communication. We even have opportunity for you to go to China and minister on a short-term missions trip.

Email me at dlcurtis@myway.com and I'll email you a brochure.

These people have what the North American church (for the most part) has lost.

We had something similar happen to us when we were in Bible College, a prayer meeting broke out into the hallways of the campus, just like you saw in the Video.

I saw 2 girls speak in tongues to each other like they were having a conversation, of all things in Mandarin Chinese to each other.

One of the girls turned to a MK from Hong Kong, who understood what they were saying, she interpreted it for us, and gave her a prophetic word about her love interest and how that God had someone else for her.

Wow. Sounds great but I have some sincere questions...

What do you mean by this? Accepted Christ? Baptized in Jesus name? Speaking in tongues? Connected with a church in their area?

How do we know the conversion is sincere and not just done for the money?
