MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — With parts of Alabama suffering an exceptional drought, Gov. Bob Riley is turning to God for help and asking other Alabamians to join him in praying for rain.
Riley issued a proclamation Thursday declaring June 30 through July 7 as "Days of Prayer for Rain" and asked citizens to pray individually and in their houses of worship.
"Throughout our history, Alabamians have turned in prayer to God to humbly ask for His blessings and to hold us steady in times of difficulty. This drought is without question a time of great difficulty for our farmers and for communities across our state," Riley said in a statement.

How cool is this!
My dear brothers and sisters living in the south;
when many of my fellow yankees make jokes about how backwards some southern bumpkin in the alabama governer's office is, just remember how silly it is when your 2-year old tells you "I'm not going!!"....just laugh off our ignorance.
btw,
Is Alabama where the judge got removed from office for displaying the 10 commandments?
If so, Alabama just may be heaping up some good things in a memorial before God.
