when I was in college, one of the guys a few rooms down the hall shot a little, yapping dog with a paintball gun from his second-story window.... I can't say that we ever saw it again.... it either was afraid to go back out into the yard and bark or was never let out by its owners.... poor little dog, probably was scared to death.....

I grew up on a farm and the family had for a hundred years been large sheep hearders. when My grandfather and his six brothers sold out in the 1950's they sold over 25 thousand head of sheep.
My grandmother's father was also a sheep hearder. in that part of the country there are still very clear rules about dogs and such as dogs can decimate a heard of sheep.
Dogs are worse than wild animals because they like to kill for fun. a coyote will kill what it needs to eat but a dog will kill 5 sheep and eat part of one.
My great grandfather caught a stray that came on his property. as he was taking the dog out behind the barn to put a .44 slug in its brainpan, someone heard him say
"here pup, here pup, I'm gonna make a good dog outta you!"

Brother, that would not be an option for me. My husband had a super hunting dog, and according to our Vet, it had been fed some anti-freeze. It is a horrible thing to watch the anguish they suffer from this.
But, my husband says this became so prevalent a few years back, that the makers of Anti-freeze no longer use that ingredient to make anti-freeze. I for one am grateful.

This is very much on the same lines as having monster kids living next to you, do you give them Kool Aid with anti-freeze??? I hope not!
That's just sick and a curl way to die! It's not the animals fault, it's the person who own the dog. You need to confront them or call in the police to handle it, or call The Humane Society ~
actually a bb pistal with salt pellets works well to teach a lesson without killing the animal.It will burn for a bit but thats a lesson learned.It will stay out of your yard.Works well on pesky neighbor cats who like to eat at your house too.
