What makes this thread different than the one Bro Strange started? If those songs are counted as idol worship to him he may possibly be the one wrong. At least concerning the music part of it.

Two thousand years ago, the devil quoted God's holy Word to our Lord. What makes us think that, today, 2000 years later, he couldn't sing us a hymn or two?
I know of other good men who have expressed the same discernment about certain meetings, and they were right on. We think because it is a UPCI Camp, that it cannot be under the influence of other spirits. That is wrong. IN fact, look at Israel of old. There was Elijah speaking on the truth, and the 450 Baal prophets and the 400 Asherah prophets. Israel thought they were doing fine. But, they were deceived.
The Church has been under siege for a long time. Prophets have arose, and those under use of the prophetic gifts have spoken, and the church world stops up their ears, and heed only to those working under a divining spirit, seeking a good word to make them feel good and tell them that they are all right.
Quote:
For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions. {2 Timothy 4:3-4}
Thank God for men willing to speak what they discern. It is not always popular, but it is always timely. And, Lord, if it helps my soul to be saved, and helps me to preach and teach the people the right, then so be it.

I guess this means we should look for only gloom and doom to come from prophets, correct? The sky is falling, life sucks, and we're all miserable is the only thing prophets can prophesy for it to be from God? Sorry, but the God I serve wants His people to be happy, well adjusted, and looking for the good things of God. Yeah, life on earth is tough for the Christian. That goes without saying, and I certainly don't need someone to tell me how disgusting I am.
Rico, you do need a man willing to tell you that you are living in sin and are not pleasing unto the Lord.
Bill, that is what I have the Holy Ghost for. I don't need any man to get into a pulpit and tell me what's wrong in my life. The days of a pastor micro managing my life are over with and I won't be going back to them. If you feel like you need someone to tell you what to do, where to go, how to get there, when to come back, and how to dress for the trip then knock yourself out. That is NOT the example the apostles left for us and that is not the example I plan on following.
Hold on, Rico. You are saying that you no longer need a pastor? Oh my goodness, you need to pray through again, friend. Submit yourself to the order of God, and see the need you have, I have, we all have for godly pastors in our lives.

Oh man, Rico, please repent of this.
Listen, and listen real good. I don't need you to tell me what I need to repent of, who I need to submit to, or whether or not I need to pray through. You have absolutely no authority whatsoever in my life. The sooner you realize this the better off you will be. I never said I don't need a pastor. Not once. What I don't need is a pastor who thinks it's his job to run my life.
