Well, if I were the rich one in the equation, here is what I would do.
1.) Pay off the mortgage on the church and any other debt.
2.) Pay off the mortgage on the pastor's current house.
3.) Continue to give as the Lord has blessed me so that the church can pay its bills, fund outreach, etc. and the pastor and his family have a comfortable, not extravagant lifestyle.
4.) Give to other churches, missionaries, ministries as God would lead me.
But, I don't believe in tithing, per se. I believe in giving as the Lord has blessed.

With $8 million in tithe money the pastor can pay off his own house.

If you don't believe in giving tithe, what makes you think you have a right to tell those who do how to handle their giving. Sheesh! How pompous and self-righteous can you get?

No suggestions for salary cap? No section in the church by-laws where trustees set a salary cap on all ministry wages? Anybody out there that think this way?

I don't think pastors should be paid at all. They should work 40 hours at their secular job, 40 hours at the church per week, be available at all hours, and have their sermon notes approved by the church board before every service.
I also believe their children and spouse should appear before a review panel every Sunday afternoon so that the church can judge how well behaved they are. Further, the pastor is only allowed to preach from John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 13.

Not sure if this was aimed at me or not, but I wasn't telling anyone what to do, merely stating what I would do. And FYI, I wouldn't have an extravagant lifestyle myself either.

I've already stated my opinion. I think the pastor should get a salary, not the tithe. And if the church were larger than 20 members and needed a church staff, then they should be on salary too, not a percentage of the tithes.

I have met those non-tithe-paying type "saints" before. Usually their biblical interpretation of tithe and offering principle allows for them to give zilch while at the same time demanding to control all aspects of the church's finances. It's a very convenient biblical interpretation.

With $8 million in tithe money every person in the church should have a position and get paid for it!!!! I might even shave my beard for a piece of that kind of action!
