I question the sincerity of anyone who sings gospel music because he can't make it anywhere else!

According to you he came to where he could make money, according to him he came back to what he was raised and loved doing - singing gospel music.

And so are most of today's Christian artists . . . but have they been treated as ME was?

Given that Erasmus was largely a humanist, I agree.
But it cannot be "doctrinally sound" if it comes from unsaved people.

You didn't say "anyone" though you said THE UPC, you made a sweeping generalization.
Why can't something be doctrinally sound from someone that is unsaved? Just because someone has some doctrine incorrect does not mean ALL of their doctrine is. Jehovahs Witnesses still believe in the virgin birth. They are doctrinally sound on that, but not on other areas.

Some have been treated worse. So few in the industry have any integrity at all...

I'm not sure if this is TIC, but everytime I hear Micheal English sing of late, it makes me sad.
He was an incredible talent, but obviously he could not keep his vices under control.
I think the hard life has put "wear & tear" on him vocally.
IMO, he does not have the "pipes" that he once had in the early 90's.

Agree.
This reminds me of the situation in major league baseball with steroids. If the CCM industry had policed their own there would be less of these issues.....But then it's all about $$$$$!

What would you EXPECT him to say? "Folks, I couldn't make it outside gospel, so I decided to come back!"? Of course he is going to put a positive spin on it!
You are correct about gospel music fakes! I talked at length one day to Donnie Sumner, and he told me stories about behind the scenes stuff with the different quartets back in the day.
That being said, there are many gospel music singers and musician that are TRUE Christians, and try to live a life that is pleasing to God.
