Pet ones surely you jest.

The man pulls out 1Jn.5 and touches neither top-side-bottom to any other arguments given and then talks about PET scriptures. Well 1Jn.5 is a pet scripture like Acts 2:38 they say the same thing when understood.
Sir I addressed 1 John 5 in exegesis pages prior in response to your claim that the elements you described point to your W&S doctrine ... when John says it points to Jesus Christ .... I'd rather believe the Word than listen to you pontificate .... thanx.

A suggestion for Dan trying to help my friend.
The Rice & Campbell debate and the Warren & Ballard debate.

Rice & Ballard were both faith only ardents maybe you could get a valid interesting arguments from them?

I have to leave to go get ready for church. Dan by the way I am finishing the lesson on the "Seven Sayings from the Cross" we Apostolic folks do preach more than baptism.

But if a sinner shows up I can always work the plan into any message.

Pound 'em to the ground, Elder. Just kidding.

I taught on the Jesus' sayings from the cross a couple of years ago at Dad's church... good stuff ... to cull from them.

How is it compromise when it is only quoting scripture?

This amazes me! If anything their words make it crystal clear for folks the theology of Acts 2:38's example of baptism in Jesus name is the fullfillment of Matthew 28:19.

This is Oneness theology through and through. It is preached from the pulpit but just not incorporated in most baptismal services.

CCI on the back wall of all Bishop Johnson's churches was two signs one said The Command and Mt.28:19 was on it then the other sign said the Fulfilment
Acts 2:38.
My problem is all I have personally known who does this ARE not trying to teach a lesson but rather trying to appease both groups thus the intent is a compromise. And I have known several who does this and without exception those I know have all been the same. I am not broadbrushing someone somewhere might not mean it as such but I all I have known this is the story.

Once again, I'm sure you're right about some people trying to appease. Not the case with us. If you knew Eddie, you'd know how hard-headed he is about what he believes; he's going to preach it no matter what. So this is how he believes is biblical and he won't change it for anyone.

Personally, I believe the name of Jesus Christ is ENOUGH to make baptism a Christian BAPTISM.

Don't need to try and work in the trinity formula.

Jesus never said 'repeat my command as part of a baptismal formula'...

He sure never said NOT to. Who would have ever thought the words of our Lord would be offensive?
