Cupcake

Most of you know that I have never shyed away from controverseal subjects so here goes;

In the great scheme of dessert goods where do cupcakes fit? Do you prefer them over cookies or cake? Or are they some distant third, a baked good only for those not proficient in making real cakes or for children's parties because of the ease of eating them?

Cupcakes are just mini cakes and should be considered in the cake category!

They are easier to eat and can be presented in a very unique way.

Also, each bite has icing whereas with a piece of cake that is not always true.

Most people over-bake cupcakes making them too dry (I don't).

I never liked cupcakes much and just thought of them as juvenile food, UNTIL I went to this Buttercup Bakery on 2nd Ave. in NY City, where they specialize in them. They have German Chocolate cupcakes, Carrot Cake cupcakes, Spice Cake Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing, etc. etc. Definitely not child's fare and totally changed my perception!!!
