(NLT) ". . . and many others who were contributing their own resources to support Jesus and his disciples."

I've never met a preacher who didn't work for free when the situation required it.

Well I agree with the spirit of what you are saying. Saints should desire to give to the ministry. Yet in what you posted is not an example of Jesus asking for money. Zip. It is not in scripture.
