Could it be the doctrine of "Baptisms" is talking about the "Baptism" unto repentance that John the Baptist did, and "Water Baptism in Jesus name for the remission of sins" that Peter preached?
Remember, all those who were baptised by John before Pentecost were rebaptised in Jesus name.

I think Paul is clearly up the fact ONLY ONE baptism in water IN Jesus Name is for the church thus John's baptism was outdated the rebaptism in
Acts 19 was at Ephesus!
The 'baptismS' in Heb. are water & spirit & maybe suffering or fire?
