I got an awesome sweet deal on my Jag. It's a 2001 and only had 34000 miles on it. It's the big one. I gave them my Montero, with lots of miles, which needed about $3,000 work on it right then, plus $6,300 and the Jag was mine! It's like brand new and the body style didn't change until the new 2008's came out, so it looks like it could be only a year or two old.

Many times this is true. When I was the sales manager of an Infiniti dealership I would usually take deals on the last two or three days of the month that I would not earlier in the month. Of course only if the deals could be closed out before the end of the month. Just committing to buy the car was not enough as for it to count for us it had to be processed.

I would also do internet research to try and find out what hidden dealer incentives might be in effect from the factory. That can greatly affect the amount a dealer can discount.

Generally when you hear that a dealer will sell a car at invoice AND give you back the rebate money on top of that it means there are hidden factory incentives to the dealer and it would help if you knew how much.

Okay, not to sound too harsh, but typically, I give about the same amount of credibility to dealers as I do politicians and lawyers. So, I really can care less whether they think my offer is credible or not. You say that the Lucerne is overpriced, what makes any other car different? You were a dealer, but I could almost say for certain, that you or anyone else (other than the actual car lot owner) really knows what those cars are worth. So, in reality, maybe my offer was crazy, but I would rather beat the dealer at his own game, than to allow him/her to snooker me into a possible bad deal.

So, you trust the salesman? How many car salesmen have taken advantage of you? None? credibility, credibility, credibility..............

I was surprised at this response, and felt justified when Olds went under.

If I were Bro Eastman, I would go back to the dealership again.
Boomm, Why would I go back to that dealership again? I have an '04 Impala that I paid $12,000.00 for just a few years ago. Have Impala's jumped that significantly in a few short years?

Brother Eastman, you are obviously on the internet. Do some research on what the car you want is selling for.

How much of the money is going to be cash?
All of it.

Don't be so touchy. I was completely snookered on the first new car I bought. I don't trust any salesman unless I know them personally. You asked a question. You got some answers. Obviously, you didn't really want to know. Move on..........
