My wife's Sister and Sis's Husband where driving back from Superior WI, down I35 to Texas and had cross that bridge about 30 minutes before the incident took place.

Officials are saying 20-30 people are missing but thankfully the water is only about 9 feet deep in the Mississippi where the bridge fell so they don't think very many additonal cars are underwater. That also kept the span that fell above water so those cars were not submerged (unless they fell off in the fall).
Fox news just inverviewed a structural engineer involved in many things like this and he said he has never seen an entire bridge fail and fall before. He said it is usually just one part.

Right! That is what made this so bizarre...the entire span fell.
