Her life story was heart wrenching, her father neglecter her, she was motherless and was sent to a convent where she was abused for many years.

During her speech, although she came to know God she always struggled with the thought of "does God really love me?"

I can't help recall this, because of what we are talking about on this thread. I just really feel other people struggle with that question because of the way they were threated by someone (namely fathers here).

We must forgive, but we also need healing as well.
Amen!

On another line of thought - We have to be careful how people read us as Christians. We are, in many ways, their perception of the God we serve.

I'm am extrememly happy to have had a wonderful dad! He's the most kind, loving, Godly, giving and level-headed person I know and I think it's a HUGE compliment when someone tells me I'm just like my dad!

Just wanted to interject that, but because I had such a great dad it hurts me deeply to see others miss out on such a great experience. It hurts me for my kids!

I believe that there are things only God can mend, encluding how to love and recieve love. So many of us ( I feel like crying) have had not so good Dad's that it affects how we see God.

I think many feel God is like our earthly dad. Its like we need God to help us with this and he is the only one who can truly help us.

But I believe he will, and wants to.

I think is how my MOTHER felt, she had a wonderful loving dad and to see how Frank acted really really bothered her.

I say at least I had a good mother.

Without even realizing they are doing it!

I thought God love was based on my performance when I first got saved--my husband like to take the credit for "enlightening" and be delivered from a performance mentality.

(Due to the fact that a lot I heard as a baby christian was based on what I did and didnt do)

My kids have a great dad and I thoroughly enjoy - absolutely LOVE - to watch my husband be such a wonderful father to our children! One thing good from my past is that I am so determined to make sure my kids have a healthy and happy childhood. When they grow up, I want them to say, "I had the best childhood with wonderful memories."

LOL! So true. When I would get down or question something going on in our lives my husband would say, "Would you stop acting like a Catholic!"

You know that teaching? - When things aren't going right something is wrong in your life!!!!!!! Instead of - God is perfecting you through this trial!
