From my POV, "Love Your Enemies" supersedes any attempt to take the life of another person for their acts against yourself or your family. If they are enemies of my wife, they are my enemies, and I am commanded to love them. One cannot fufill the command to love their enemies while taking their life at the same time.
But just so you have the balance, One full of love can love their enemy and at the same time grab hold of him and keep him from hurting the wife, the attacker, or himself, and have no anger towards the attacker that would cause him to do bodily harm to him.

You requested scripture that shows where the use of deadly force is OK.
Now I'm asking you to provide scripture that shows where its OK to use ANY kind of force, including grabbing, against one's enemies.
Grabbing an attacker would definitely NOT be gentle, rather, it would be forceful.
Where is your scriptural justification for this? Did Jesus do this?
Turn around is fair play.
Sis,
I have bowed out of this, as I do not see anything being accomplished out of it. But I will answer you because you have asked.
I gave scripture that from my viewpoint would not allow someone to use deadly force on an enemy.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
While I know it is possible to stop someone from doing violence to another through means other than deadly force, because I had a job that required me to do such, I do not see where one can fulfill this scripture and use deadly force on someone at the same time.
For my belief I have now been labeled as "too spiritual" and "worse than an infidel". Since I do not particularly like to be victimized, I am doing the non-violent thing , and simply not posting here further. You folks that can figure out how to blow some robbers brains out and love him at the same time can have at it. I will do my best to live my convictions, and should I fail in the time of testing, I have an advocate with the Father.
No matter how much it is said that it is not retribution, one cannot fulfill the commandment to "Love you enemies" and take hostile actions that take their life in the process.
AMEN!

You know if there is ever a terrorist war in this country and the islamofascist take over all of the people who dont believe in defending themselves or there families will not have to worry about ethics anymore, they will kill you for sure, a sobering thought to say the least, dt

The early Church experienced this. Yet--not one time--do we find any of them fighting against their "terrorists." Not for their own safety, their family's safety, or their Country. Think about that for a minute.

Loving my enemies isn't my problem. It's a problem when loving my enemies is more important than loving and protecting my family.

Again... I would argue the intent of the force should be something less than deadly, realizing that he deserves death, as even do I... but more importantly, he needs a Saviour as even do/did I.
Should I kill him in such a struggle - I would repent and live with this knowledge.
I think I already concured with that notion. As I said, death is inevitable sometimes and could still happen.
