Disfellowshipped

Just curious...has anyone here ever been disfellowshipped from a church?

Pastors, reasons would you ever disfellowship someone in your congregation?

My Mother was disfellowshipped from the Mormon church. We had already experienced Pentecost so it worked out ok.

I've never been disfellowshipped, although I have tried very hard.

Not yet.

I love my pastor so I hope he doesn't send me packing.

Not me. I did tell a pastor he needed to put one person out. This is the only person I have ever come in contact with that literally met the criteria biblically speaking.

He didn’t. The pastors I know are longsuffering guys who love people. Eventually her kid went to jail for assaulting someone in the church and she left mad because the church didn’t support her rapscallion son.

My friend taught me something about waiting on God.

Not officially...but effectively, yes. It was hurtful and needless. Stupid, if you get right down to the brass tacks.

I'm no pastor, but I think that disfellowshipping someone should be a last resort, in extreme circumstances. I can't even think of very many scenarios in which it would be recommended. Biblically or otherwise.
