We were part of a church where a family was asked to leave for causing dissension. The church fell apart soon after that so I would have to say it wasn't the right thing to do.

He didn’t. The pastors I know are longsuffering guys who love people. Eventually her kid went to jail for assaulting someone in the church and she left mad because the church didn’t support her rapscallion son.

My friend taught me something about waiting on God.
Just wondering what the Biblical Criteria would be?

I was associated with COGOP for a time and knew of members being immediatley disfellowshipped for remarrying if they had a living spouse or marrying someone with a living spouse.

I have disfellowshipped a few pastors and churches in my lifetime!

I've don't know anyone who has been disfellowshipped, but I do remember once when a pastor told his leadership that he was "marking" a certain person, and for the leadership to "watch" the man.

It turned out that the guy he thought was a bad seed wasn't his "problem" after all. The pastor just wasn't real slick in his discernment of people.

It seems I am not the only one with a warped sense of humor.

I'm no pastor, but I think that disfellowshipping someone should be a last resort, in extreme circumstances. I can't even think of very many scenarios in which it would be recommended. Biblically or otherwise.
I'm sorry to hear this. I agree that it should be a last resort...

I to, have heard of a pastor asking "rebellious" people to leave.
