I was at work one day, and realized it was my birthday. Looked at my driver's license and, sure enough, it expired that day. Reeeally wishing I had done the renew-by-mail thing, I drove to the DPS (Department of Public Safety), saw a sign on the door saying I must show proof of insurance. Looked for it in the car, not there. Left it at home. Sigh.
Drove home, got the certificate, grabbed the mail for something to do while waiting. Back to the DPS, got in line. Looked through the mail. Last thing in the pile was a letter from the DPS. It was my new license! I did renew by mail, and forgot about it!
I bet everyone there wondered what I was laughing about as I went back to my car!
