***its Official: Shay Mann Will Not Be Gyp***

Shay Mann has made it public knowledge that he will not let his name run for General Youth Prez at Tampa. He will continue to serve as Youth Sec'y and if reelected in 2008, he will be glad to continue to serve.

Names being tossed about:

WAYNE FRANCIS: the odds-on favorite, due to the fact he is the Youth Promo Dir. and a personal favorite of KH

JARED HOWELL: Bruce's son and Youth Prez of Louisiana

MICHAEL ENSEY: don't know him just heard his name being offered. Unofficially someone who says they know him asked him about it and he said he would accept the office. Is he J.R.'s son?

JOEL URSHAN: pastoring in Cincy, is WEC ready for another Urshan this soon?

GREG BOWMAN: Youth Prez of Indiana

JOHN CARROLL aka COONSKINNER: former Youth Prez of Kansas and unofficial President of the Dan Christensen (NLYP) Fan Club---some say he's too old, but we think he's lying about his age. (You can't own coon dogs in Kansas legally until age 40!)

What a smart man. The Youth President-to-be will inherit a lose-lose situation as will many in national positions after this GC.

However the GYD has the biggest huge bullseye on it right now .... especially after NAYC 2007. Some see the GYD as what is good and progressive w/ the org ... while others see it as the poster child for what's wrong w/ the org.

If I'm correct Sheaves for Christ is the orgs largest offering. If the the TV proposition passes ... after the big conservative churches splinter ... those conservatives that don't go will continue their protest to withhold their funds. The Youth would have to work w/ less funds.

If the TV resolution fails
... the conservatives will see it as a mandate to "clean house". The GYD will have to acquiesce to growing pressures to conform to more conservative ideals or still suffer a boycott. Most of the men who have a chance to be elected in this will butt heads w/ these demands ..... Add the liberal churches that will begin to trickle out ... you have a recipe for less funding and heightened in-fighting.

Also I believe the org will have huge issues in the future with deficit spending and clamors to control it.

Right now this is an unenviable position. Kudos to Mann.

Francis will win ... He's been groomed for this position for a long time. A life long dream.

He's a good man.

Daniel, get it right.

It is not the conservatives up in arms at the GYD and threatening the withholding of funds. It is the moderates. This is what was so alarming.

WF also has the blessing of PM if there is a change at the top that direction......

Alarming ... it is not ... shameful it is.

I do not doubt that there are a group of mods and conservatives withholding their offerings right now ... but if the resolution passes the call for boycott would probably gain momentum ....

those that are unhappy w/ the result, namely conservatives, would join.

Any mods leaning right on TV are more likely to move center if the resolution passes and heed to calls for unity after the STORM hits and the dust settles.

It would be cool if Jared Howell was elected cause I know him! Or at least I did when he was just a teenager.

Jared and his wife Loida are close family friends ... they're AWESOME. I don't think however he is poised for holding this office at this time ....

WF is the most qualified person at this time ... He was ready for it when he was NYMD Youth Director ... but his stint as Dean of Students at ABI and now the Promotions Director solidifies his chances. AND he's a KH favorite.

As a sidenote .... I don't think race will play an issue in any of this.

He is Texas District YP....very level headed and has done a good job......he plays golf and wears short sleeved shirts so all of us ultra-cons cant vote for him.......... ROFL....no he would do a good job, I actually heard his name for somewhere in time that he would end up at St. Louis.....dont know if this is the time or now, but he would do a good job..........

Oh yes and he is JR's Grandson.............

Already revisionist propaganda is being formulated.

This must be the talking points from Damage Control Central
