There is a lot of pyschological conditioning that goes on in the legalism of old time so called "holiness" Pentecost.

I think any pastor who tries to bring a congregation from one paradigm into another in a quick fashion is full of folly and will reap confusion.

Very careful groundwork over an extended period of time must be laid down through Biblical teaching to move peoples foundation from being wrapped around legalism to a better understanding of the Gospel.

Without that teaching and preaching over time any sudden outward changes cause a psychological mess in peoples minds as their conditioning over many years causes them great guilt that some then confuse with conviction.

What is so celebratory about it other than possibly just a "wrong" spirit...

It just doesn't seem to be something to celebrate???

in other words I don't get it...
That is incredible. I've never heard of a hair cutting party. Nevermind the act - the attitude almost makes you sick at your stomach.

I agree with you.

It's done to the fast-tempo song, "take these shackles off my head so I can dance."

Above all else, it is sad.

It is done as a celebration of the triumph of liberality.

A liberal pastor comes in on the heels of a departed conservative pastor, and preys upon any carnal attitudes of resistance to pastoral oversight that he can find. In a few short years he has convinced the majority of the congregation that they were victims of an overbearing ogre's temperamental ways, and stuff like this begins to happen.

It is sickening, but not necessarily in the sense that the hair is ruined, but the path down which the sheep will be led has a slaughterhouse at the end of it.

The pastor with which I am familiar that had one of these hair cutting parties on the platform has used the Lord's name in vain, into the microphone, in my presence. That is the tip of the iceberg, in my discernment, of this man's wolf in sheep's clothing persona.

I am surprised he didn't just hire the painters union to come out, since old barn..er women need a fresh coat of paint.
