Suppositions and imagination turned into "fact." Sounds like lies to me. Its a good practice not to believe things like that unless you hear it directly from the source. (Source being the pastor who scheduled the party or the woman who had her hair cut on the platform.) Any other source is basically just a Gossip, and shouldn't be given much credibility.

The problem is that these rumors are propagated by very believable people...namely pastor's and their wives...
I confronted one pastor's wife who was running one on us and she had the audacity--after I told her it was not true--to say to me, "Well, I heard it from a reliable source..."
She would not tell me the "source" but confirmed that the source did not come from our church, did not speak to me, and did not say where she had gotten the lie...I said, "Your reliable source is going to hell for lying, and you'll be joining her if you don't stop..."

Is it more stupid than victory marches? More stupid than teaching magic hair?
I heard a story about a pastor that sat his wife on the altar. He cut his wifes hair as the congregation shouted and spoke in tongues. The wife began to scream "I'm free... I'm free..."
That's stupid, too. A lot of it is stupid.

Do you know that to be a true story?
Seems like T1's assessment is that most of these are probably made up...
to which they probably are...

T1,
Thanks for clearing that up. That indeed is a story I had heard about you and I figured you were who revrandy was fishing for.
Glad he had good bait and now, as Paul Harvey would say, we know the rest of the story.

Hehe...that reminds me...there was this lady in a church I attended...who every service, she had something really ugly to say about other folks...anyway, she was about 10 years my senior, and so I would just try to get away from her as quickly as possible...but one night before church, she started in, and I had just had enough. I turned to her and said sharply, "___________, my ears are NOT garbage cans!" Then I turned around to walk off, and there stood my pastor...LOL...he looked both shocked and amused, and I just kept my dignity and kept going! But hey...she never gossiped to me again!
I am a bit more diplomatic now...I know how to steer the conversation in other directions and cut folks off in a more tactful manner...BUT some people can only be dealt with bluntly.

I think the collective creative minds here at AFF could come up with some better than these!!!!! We ought to start an "Pentecostal Urban Myths" thread.
