One told of how many youth were breaking a particular rule and realized they were found out...so they deliberatly ratted out one kid and let him take the heat because they new if they could set one up the rest would not be noticed...this kid has major problems to this day and is not going to church...he just couldn't get over it...
99%? Not that I have seen...

Well. I conceded a bit in my post above...I think that you're right, that publicly everyone complied, but privately...or on vacation...was a completely different story.

Several families that I know have followed that path to find a pastor that they didn't have to go to for permission and "counsel" on their vacations plans and when and which family members they could visit.

I am not saying that there are not those who do follow it in a cult like fashion...I know there are...I know some of them personally and you can tell they do it to the letter by how mean they are...LOL...but do you really know? Nope! Because "no one knows what goes on behind closed doors."
Here's my deal, UC made it sound like they ALL did it because they just love God that much...and I just don't believe he can make that assertion with any level of authority because I have dealt with many UCs and have tried to work through the effects of the double life they and others lived.

I have seen so many lies posted. The best one is the one Triumphant 1 did his best to combat. You know, the hair cutting party thing?
Prominent members of this board chose to believe the lie and even continue to spread it, even though T1 had totally proved it was false.

Now that is sad that the "conservative" folks you know where hypocrites, thankfully my experience in the church has been just the opposite.
Good, Godly folks with CONVICTIONS that regulate their lives in and out of the church.
I have been in a motel room for the last two weeks and haven't turned the tv on once just to watch the news, not even when a hurricane was blowing over my house.
I don't watch it when I go to sinner family members home or even the Pizza Hut (never have turned a tv off, have asked to have it turned DOWN )
I have known the so called "moderate" that was a bill beater, that abused his children and wife, but LOVED EVERYONE, was so kissy huggie that you could die of syrup poisoning by just being around them, but that doesn't make every "moderate" I know a pedophile.
Using the broad brush from either perspective is divisive.

Jeff is always telling our kids: True character is determined by what you do when no one is looking!
He says it so much, that they finish it for him....LOL!!!

I never meant to sound like this stuff doesn't happen across the board...that should be a given...
The conversation is about a comment posted by UC concerning his paradigm..
And I do not doubt...as I have already stated...that there are those who DO follow it to the tee....
But UC made out like he absolutely knew that ALL in his church followed it that way....and I just haven't seen that as a plausible reality in my time.
So I would ask that you keep this thing in the perspective and not start that broad brush diversion here...

I know many conservative people who are living that way because they love God and are convinced it is the right thing to do. BUT...where it goes awry is when, instead of allowing others to mature on their own, and possibly reach those same convictions and conclusions through their own relationship with God, they insist upon it for its own sake, and then the next generation doesn't really hold those convictions, and haven't had a chance to develop a deep, meaningful relationship with God, but rather exist on the shallow end, pleasing their pastor and their parents with their lifestyle. Eventually that wears thin.
I don't believe there shouldn't be rules...but there has to be room and time allowed for people to progress and mature in God without it being forced or rushed. Kind of like if you help a butterfly out of its cocoon...it LOOKS pretty, but it lacks the strength to fly.

Have you ever noticed that strong people judge things from their own personal strengths?
Weak folks look at their world from weakness, fortified with excuses?
Spiritual people lean toward mercy.
Hypocrites have very little personal strengths or spirituality think that everyone else is a hypocrite.
Just some of my life observation.
