Most of the 'freedom' we see is nothing more than unrealized bondage bound to be a means to a very long and fiery fate.
There is freedom within the boundaries and principles of the Kingdom of God. You can find these in the Bible. These will endure. These constitute that freedom in Christ that you seem to think is a world loving reflective free for all.

tell that to Paul who went to Jerusalem and got permission to preach to the Gentiles that they didn't have to follow the law (with 4 exceptions)....
Seriously, this "rule-making" thing that we hold so dear in the modern world jsut didn't exist in the Antioch-based church in the 1st century (it did exist in the Jerusalem church... which lost, BTW and was basically gone once Jerusalem got sacked by Rome multiple times in the late 1st, early 2nd centuries)
