That's one thing I don't understand. Basically they removed a ban that has been in place only since the 1970's. That's hardly "old;" at least it's not if you're as "old" as I am.

That's the most absurd thing I have heard....that boo hooo hooo, brethren feel betrayed because an organization of men decides it's no longer a mortal sin to use a box of electronics to reach lost souls. I fail to see how that is betrayal. Is it only the UCs that can be betrayed? Maybe some liberals felt betrayed with they forced the A/S agreement on the org too.

Did the non-church going friend freak out the other times in history that the UPC changed or for that matter any other church? What should a Trinitarian minister do that becomes Oneness? Keep preaching Trinity?

I don't know about most, but a lot don't. However UPC churches have a certain amount of autonomy. It's perfectly fine for a local UPC pastor to preach against TV.

I just wanted to hear some other impressions: didn't the UPC just remove a ban that had only been in place since the 1970's?
