He preached HARD against Cold Cereal! Yup, not kidding COLD CEREAL. You were going to HELL if you ate Cold Cereal! My elderly friend told me that when this minister fell into sin with the piano player/organ player.... that she and the ladies of the church were in charge of cleaning the parsonage for the new in coming pastor and the found cupboard after cupboard full of ..........
COLD CEREAL! I still scratch my head on that one, why on earth would it be a sin to eat cold cereal, and why could he eat it and evidently he ate a lot of it!!!

This same pastor would have his wife measure all the girls and ladies in his church hems to make sure they were at least 4 inches below the knee! We roomed with some of these girls at camp and I believe if memory serves me right they could not wear perfume either. The men could not wear colored shirts (forget about print ones! that was a slippery slope to hell!) and no bell bottom pants (at the time that is all there were 70's). Oh and the ladies could not go bare legged in their sandles..nope panty hose at all times. Oh and their hair had to be up at all times in a pentecostal do!!
Was under a pastor who did all of above but the cereal. Sleeves were also measured. Men maximum one button undone (all done in church of course) NO sandels. There were so many "don't"s to learn and keep track of that I think many truly backslid because they were never taught the "do"s

Back in the day at JCM, actually saw TC calling from the platform to find out why people weren't there. In his case I would call it good sheparding.

When I "dropped out" for a time, and let my license go, not a single person from the local assembly or district or HQ bothered to check up, much less ask why.

I agree with the concept of being a good shepard, however, I think leaving church during service is more than a little invasive. This particular pastor would not excuse his saint for hardly any reason. My pastor makes phone calls and sends cards every week to those who have been missing. We also have committees who check in on people.

absolutely true. Unless they lived close that could also make for a pretty long "song service" I think we called them back then
