He is young, I don't remember exactly what the age is, but he was discovered when he was very young, like 15 or 16 I think.

I love the Blues, though I don't listen to it much.

BB King can play like none other, and BP on the organ was wonderful.

I remember reading once that the Baptist church had a fit when Dr. Thomas Dorsey came to the Lord and wrote, among many other songs, Precious Lord, saying he was "bringing Blues into the church!!"

I love the Blues too.

Gospel and Blues are cousins- both music have roots in the church.
The blues being the "backslide" family member.

rooted in the church, somewhat. But not in the edifice. Perhaps later in their evolution .... they are rooted in the African slave work songs and spirituals sung under duress and oppression ....

what they sung in the fields of oppresion was sung in the church mixed with the religion of the slave master. even the Dress of that day of the wives of the plantation owners , the fancy hats and dresses from England, are worn today in the black church.

A few years ago twice while I was in Memphis on Business on a weeknight I had a chance to visit BB King's Blues Club on Beale Street. It was not a weekend so the music wasn't headliners but both times the music was wonderful.

One time the blues band featured a guitar player and singer in his 80's!!! The group leader introduced him as the oldest actively playing / singing bluesman. He said people ask him why the old guy is still working and he tells them it is because of the child support he has to pay. LOL!!!

They have a Hammond B3 & Leslie's permenently on stqage I believe.

There is a B.B. Kings club here in Nashville but the one tme I have been there was for my company's Christmas party a couple of years ago and it was terrible. Bad food, bad service, and we were way in a back room where we couldn't see the band. The band also was only instrumental. No singers.

Great Blues, comes from deep down, it comes from the soul. That's what makes it appealing. You can't do the blues without putting yourself into it.
